The Dwight D. and Sheryl H. Howard Foundation, Inc. is a faith-based organization reaching out to strengthen family relationships by providing a family base to assist youths with everyday life issues and how to transition through them.

The Hope on the Hill Family Life Center in South Fulton will offer the following services for youth an adults:

– Counseling: Assistance with the crisis intervention, diagnostic assessment, brief individual and couples therapy, group therapy, and referral.

– Health Screening: Programs designed to evaluate the health status and potential of an individual.

– Computer Training: Resources dedicated to helping users acquire proficiency in a wide array of technical areas.

– A Fitness Center: Dedicated to the overall health and wellness of the mind and body.

– Visually Impaired Services: Focus on creating solutions for children with visual loss to achieve their full potential.

To accommodate the growing need in Metro-Atlanta and to expand our current programs, the Dwight D. and Sheryl H. Howard Foundation purchased a 9-acre lot that includes a 30,000 square foot facility and a track & field.  In the summer 2016’, we will embark on a major milestone and will begin renovations.  Renovating the 30,000 sq. ft. facility will allow the foundation to meet the immediate needs of at-risk youth by increasing the number of clients served, which would create additional employment opportunities in the community.

Our project will be a huge undertaking that will require our community to partner with us and work together to provide a campus that would benefit the entire community.  The 9-acre land will include a community center, after school, sports program, and track field that would allow local elementary/middle schools and local Soccer/Football/Lacrosse Leagues have a safe environment for activities.

Phase I (a) will allow us to create a state-of-the-art athletic complex that would permit the field to be used by high school students, residents of the community and various sports leagues (i.e. lacrosse, football, track, soccer, etc.) for the youth.  After several years, the track underwent a lot of wear and tear and could potentially be a safety hazard due.

Phase I (b) will allow us to renovate our 4,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose gymnasium. We will need to install a new roof, install bleachers to accommodate 80 seats, upgrade both boys and girl’s locker rooms/bathrooms, paint, install new flooring in the gymnasium and upgrade equipment.

Phase II will begin in 2017’ to renovate the remaining 26,000 sq. ft. facility.  This final renovation phase will have Executive/Administrative offices, classroom/meeting space, a workout/training facility, a technology center, and a full size cafeteria (to promote good nutrition and healthy eating habits).

These renovations will be a large undertaking, but once the final Phase is completed, we will have an advanced facility with the ability to provide services for our local community to include schools, leagues/associations, the Atlanta Police Department and the youth.
